First step towards my goal MTNL PROJ ......learning to walk the mature way

I aim to make a difference in the way things are done today.
In the same direction I devised an idea to make MTNL bill delivery more cost efficient by formatting their address data of customers into something standard so that sorting of addresses can be automatically done using intelligent computer algorithms.

It was a mammoth task to get my idea heard. Call it resistance to change or avoiding work but the seemingly gr8 idea did not find takers. We sent the letter by fax to GM TR of mumbai ....just an attempt to make ourselves heard.(their helpline mail accounts bounce mails with QUOTA full error :) )
And then second obstacle was speaking to top authority in HUGE MTNL office at Prabhadevi. We had a letter on college letterhead and idea in mind .. not knowing that we did not have CONTACTS or to put in milder words a GM would not talk to ne one without a DGM forwarding the letter to GM........BUT no one told us where the DGM was (there are 4-5 DGM offices in the same building). Then came the contacts funda.....and mind u dun know why it seems to work.... no way out we had to use it.

Many phone calls and we managed to know that a friend of my friend's mummy worked in the building and we got the much awaited GATE PASS in pretext of meeting the lady which ....................to be truthful.......... we never met. We went straight to the GM Admin and he sent us to GM TR ... who was on leave and his job was handled by GM Fin....long LINKED LIST
Making use of the opportunity we went to DGM TR and luckily found a patient south Indian who listened to us.(thanks Sir)

Then some more trips and many many phone calls for appointment.

Then came a call from MTNL office that we can come for a meeting with GM after 3.00 on 4th.
""After 3.00"", so we dumb students took our own time and reached at 3.35 with a reminder call coming at 3.15.
What plush office and view of Worli sea face - the Bandra Worli sea link in the bureaucratic making....gr8 office and positive response was mentally satisfying. He also offered us tea and now this may seem chindi(crap) but it was gr8.

SO finally we overcame the CONTACTS with a small contact (i could not break the "pehchan MYTH") and got smthin original approved

Now this can be regarded as a stepping stone to my dreams.....isn't it?

MS Lost :: life at a halt

I felt that I could make it to Microsoft...... an oppurtunity that came and which I had to convert. Moreover, ppl around me made me feel i could make it thru and i was carried away ..................miles away...............

Prepared for it ........... studied more than I would do for my University exams. Pushed myself to limits .... for the first time I read in library till the watchman would come to close the doors.. 9.00 in the night

Then came the day....12th August Aptitude test and presentation for Microsoft.
They recruited 7 students from our college last year and that probably made me more comfortable. Decent presentation and handsome salary of 8.5 lakhs. Everyone's eyes sparkled, it seemed so, however Cisco had come before with a packege of 7.5 L so not surprising though.
During the presentation HR said he's looking for ppl who r married to technology and they wld not ask stupid questions like 'wht is son's age if father is............' and that the test wld be techincal; I was at ease coz I knew that I cld not compete with ppl preparing for CAT in quant.

First Section : QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE 40 m 40 min
Surprised ,I was shocked.. I cld hrdly solve 10-12 quetions in the alloted time as i am not a speedy person at doin thins and tensed mindset

I felt paniky thnks to the scores of mistakes and ambiguties that the paper had.

Second Section : C/C++
There was a question which said 'What does this statement mean?'
And nothing else...........Now is this what u call Microsoft Paper?

Then OS
Here even more blunder......... there is question which asks 'what is it if page faults occur too often in a process' Ans : Thrashing
And for the ppl who din know it was provided just after 2 questions which said "If page faults occur too often, it is called thrashing.What does it lead to?" Aren't they being generous..............................................too soft at heart, rt.

Then DBMS
God's grace this section had no beauties like above

And their partners were the gr8 test organisers 'Merittrac', who dun even know that one shld not rely on the internet when an offline test is possible. How do corporates trust them??????????????????????/

But the thing that is the reality and will remain is that I could not clear the MS test.

I felt miserable, I cried- I dun know why?
Mhatre said "Anuj, God has a PLAN".
and I said "What plan yaaar ? "

I'm still waiting and will be waiting for the plan to realise ............ I even dun know if he has one ?

Life continues as usual , College and friends and Project and assignments, etc but something id really missing - I dun know what

HOPE TO FIND IT SOON........
